Christina Aguilera had an embarrassing mishap when taking the stage during the funeral of Etta James on Saturday, January 28. The "Hurt" singer was belting out the late singer's iconic song, "At Last", when liquid that looked like blood was caught on camera dripping down her legs.

Despite what happened, Aguilera did her best to deliver the rendition of James' signature song. "Thank you Etta James for the inspiration-I love you," she said at the end of her performance. Earlier on the stage, she gushed, "There's a line in this song that says 'I found a dream that I could speak to. And for me that dream, allmy life, has been Etta James."

Before the performance, Aguilera talked to CNN about her preparation for the gigthe night before. "I went through the lyrics last night, and I did rehearsal... and it took on a whole new meaning having been invited by her close friends and family to sing that classic song at her service," she said.

"And I started crying every time I started to sing it, and I thought, 'My gosh, what if that happens tomorrow? I just want to do justice to Etta James'," she recalled her rehearsals. The judge and vocal coach of "The Voice" added, "She meant the whole world to me, and it was a huge honor to be here today."

The funeral ceremony took place at City of Refuge Church in Gardena, Los Angeles. In addition to having Aguilera as a performer, it also saw Stevie Wonderhitting the stage to honor James. Accompanied by a church choir, the 61-year-old singer/songwriter sang "Shelter in the Rain" and "Lord's Prayer". Rev. Al Sharpton, meanwhile, was on hand to deliver the eulogy.
